Students in Mr. Hagstrom's Government and Civics class began the day learning about the origins and history of Columbus Day and then traveled south to the Acton Monument to reflect on Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The experience encouraged thoughtful discussion about how our local history connects to our nation’s story and how understanding many perspectives helps us grow as citizens and future leaders.

🌎✨ Cooking, Learning, and Growing on Indigenous Peoples’ Day at ACGC! ✨🌎

Today our ACGC Falcons honored Indigenous Peoples’ Day in a special way — by cooking, sharing, and learning together. Each 6th grade class period took part in preparing a different dish rooted in the food traditions of the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples of Minnesota:

🍎 1st Hour made a warm Maple Apple Crisp and brewed a refreshing Maple Cranberry Tea, celebrating fall harvest and the spring sap flow that connects us to the cycles of the water and seasons.

🌽 2nd Hour prepared a hearty Three Sisters Stew — corn, beans, and squash — learning how these crops support one another in the soil, a lesson in symbiosis and sustainability.

🫐 3rd Hour baked a sweet Wild Berry Pudding in the crock pot, reflecting on how Minnesota’s soils and climate shape which berries thrive here.

🌾 4th Hour created a savory Wild Rice Soup with Turkey, honoring the sacred grain that grows only in our northern wetlands, a reminder of the importance of clean water and healthy ecosystems.

Later in the day, students came back together to taste what they created, share reflections, and connect their learning. They discovered that food is more than a meal — it’s a story of people, land, science, and culture woven together.

At ACGC, our Falcons aren’t just studying Earth Science, they are living it: cooking, eating, learning, and growing in community.

If the November bond referendum is approved by voters, the investments will be supported by a tax increase on district property owners. For a $250,000 residential home in the district, the estimated tax increase would be $8.17 per month starting in 2026. For an agricultural homestead with an estimated market value of $9,000 per acre, the estimated tax impact would be $0.04 per acre per month ($0.59 per acre per year) starting in 2026.

You can easily calculate your projected tax impact using the tax calculator at https://www.acgcbuilttofly.com/cost

🍪 ACGC Crumbl Cookie Wars! 🍪
Last week, students in Ms. Stang’s Baking & Pastry class put their creativity and culinary skills to the test by designing their very own Crumbl-inspired cookies!

Students started by brainstorming ideas for their cookie, then created or found both a cookie and frosting recipe. They wrote grocery lists, calculated calories and costs per batch and per cookie, and developed a lab plan to ensure they could complete everything within the allotted class time. Once the planning was done, it was time for the fun part: baking and frosting their delicious creations!

On Friday, October 3, ACGC High School staff members stopped by the FACS room to sample and judge the cookies to choose the ultimate Crumbl Cookie winner!

The students’ creativity and hard work made this a seriously sweet competition!
